Troy Ryall Named OBA's Best Player Thursday, September 23rd , 1897 It's been a year of triumph for veteran Troy Ryall of the Sault Ste. Marie Rapids as he hit his way to the 1897 Ontario Baseball Association HM Canadian Champion. The 30-year-old veteran compiled a .359 average and .426 on-base percentage by putting together 172 hits, 27 doubles, 13 triples, 1 home run and 57 walks. He also scored 108 times and drove in 86 runs. He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 16. Rich Lesage of the Pickering Bonebreakers finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Allen Charron of the Pickering Bonebreakers finished third.
