Cowhands Win Circuit Championship Series Wednesday, October 6th , 1897 Jared Ragsdale put the Odessa Cowhands on his shoulders as they downed the Abilene Preachers in the Circuit Championship Series. Odessa won the deciding game by a 4-1 count at Cowhands Park and wrapped up the series 3-1. Ragsdale played a key role in the victory, as he was named series MVP for his offensive output, which included a .412 batting average with a .389 on-base percentage, 1 home runs, 7 RBI and 4 runs scored. "I told myself it was time to step it up and help the team win and I'm glad I was able to do that," he said. The Odessa Cowhands will play against the Luling Lavender Stockings in the next round. Luling won their series against the Nacogdoches Roaches 3 games to 1. The Championship of Texas schedule will be announced after the Circuit Championship Series finishes.
