Eastern Association Honors San Marcos's Montano Wednesday, August 22nd , 1888 The top Eastern Association rookie in 1888 was San Marcos left fielder Sebastián Montano. He's the latest winner of the Eastern Association Newbie. During his first year in the league, the 23-year-old Montano hit .312 with 117 hits, 2 home runs, 46 RBIs and 50 runs scored.
