Finos Heading to Championship of Texas Tuesday, July 31st , 1888 Román Ithier paused momentarily when asked what it means to him to be named MVP of the Intercircuit Series. "It means we're one step closer to winning the Championship of Texas, as they normally don't give this to players on the losing team," he said with a smile. "I do feel fortunate to win the award though, I had a lot of fun out there." Ithier made his comments only moments after his El Paso Finos had knocked out the Wichita Falls Yardmen to advance to the Championship of Texas. El Paso won the final game by a 2-1 count at El Paso Grounds and clinched the series 3-1. Ithier had a 0.00 ERA over 19 innings pitched, with 3 strikeouts and a 2-0 record. The El Paso Finos don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Galveston Gulls - Waco Mammoths series. Waco leads the series 2 games to 1.
