Galveston, Beaumont Confirm Swap Sunday, July 15th , 1888 You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Galveston and Beaumont have made a swap with 21-year old 2B Teófilo Hernandez being shipped to the Alpinists and in return the Gulls would get 30-year old LF Neptuín Reyna and 22-year old 2B Santiago Pena. Galveston general manager Justin White said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction. "This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines." A source inside the Galveston organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works. Hernandez is presently hitting at a .056 pace with no home runs, 3 RBIs and has scored 2 times. This year Reyna is batting .207 with 2 home runs and 21 RBIs. In 81 games he has scored 28 times. |
