Matanzas right-hander Frank Groves pitched his team to victory over the Marianao Monjes Grises at Campo de los Henequeneros. The final score was 9-3. With the win, Matanzas goes to 56-38, while the Monjes Grises fall to 39-55.

The Henequeneros got an important contribution from catcher Napoleón Lozada, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a fastball into right-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Henequeneros ahead, 2-0.

"It feels good to get this one," Groves told the Matanzas Daily.
