The Artemisa Rojos topped the Marianao Monjes Grises, 2-1, in Torneo del Occidente action at Recinto de Artemisa. The standout performance belonged to Artemisa pitcher and Rodas, Cuba, native Esteban Quiros. Artemisa reliever Esteban Quiros got the win, raising his record to 17-8. Zenobio Rodríguez was tagged with the loss. Artemisa is first in the Torneo del Occidente División de Pinar del Río with a record of 47-29.
Eugenio García drove in one run against the Monjes Grises. In the bottom of the first inning, he grounded out, driving in 1 run, putting Artemisa in front, 1-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Artemisa manager Tadeo Rodríguez said.
