The Thessalon North Stars overcame a fine performance by Brampton right fielder C.J. Griffin to defeat the Florists, 9-7, at Brampton Fields. Griffin was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The North Stars go to 43-51, putting them last in the Ontario Baseball Association Northern Division.

Roger McMartin in the top of the sixth had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the North Stars leading 6-5, the Thessalon catcher hit a 2-run single.

"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said McMartin. "I just want to win ballgames."
