Starting pitcher Les Mahoney pitched well enough to help the Sault Ste. Marie Rapids beat the Thessalon North Stars, 4-3. George Wills earned the save, his 2nd, for the Rapids. The win makes Sault Ste. Marie 27-18.

Dick Brosseau was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks for Sault Ste. Marie. The 34-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Matthew Eby. It was his 16th walk of the season.
