Samalayuca Tops Albuquerque Saturday, August 28th , 1897 The Samalayuca Enjambre pulled out all the stops tonight, winning the Campeonato del Río Bravo in a hard-fought series with the Albuquerque Dukes. It was a seesaw affair, but with a 4-1 victory at Enjambre Park, Samalayuca lay claim to the franchise's 1st championship. "There's no denying we faced a tough opponent," said Marco Ortiz. "But as the old saying goes, 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going,' and that's what we did today." The champs finished the regular season 77-43 and claimed first place in the Liga Fronteriza División Chihuahua. A victory parade is set to be schedule in Samalayuca in the days to come.
