Star of the Week Awarded in LRB-LF Monday, August 2nd , 1897 Once you hit 35, it's hard to say how much time you've got left in baseball. Santiago Melero has been fortunate as his numbers for the past week bear out. The 35-year-old left fielder, a favorite in the Villa Ahumada Menonitas clubhouse, hit .593 last week as he put up Player of the Week numbers. Melero also put together 16 hits in 27 at-bats, no home runs and 1 RBIs for the week. In 104 games this season Melero has compiled a .271 batting average with 112 hits and no home runs. He has also scored 52 times and knocked in 32 runs. |
