Best Hurler Award Presented by OBA Wednesday, September 22nd , 1897 The Ontario Baseball Association announced today that Bill Dukeshire has been chosen the HM Canadian Moundsman winner for 1897. The Pickering starter had everything working for him this past season as he soared to a 23-15 record. In his exceptional season Dukeshire chalked up a 3.72 ERA in 353.2 innings with 89 strikeouts and 64 walks. Enemy teams hit .283 against him in his 40 starts. He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 16. Ryan Joseph of the Hamilton Hammers finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Jacques Mollet of the Nipissing Air Marshals finished third.
