Anderson Selected Top Player Monday, July 19th , 1897 Ontario Baseball Association pitchers tried and tried all week long to stop John Anderson, but to no avail. His eyes would light up when he came to the plate and he hit everything in sight, batting .647 for the week to win the OBA Player of the Week Award. The Nipissing left fielder cracked 11 hits in 17 at-bats, no home runs, drove in 0 runs and scored 3 times. This season Anderson is swinging the bat at a .305 rate with 114 hits in 374 at-bats. To date he has hit no home runs, scored 70 runs and driven in 63. |
