Arcadians Blank Copper Lords, Watts Wins Wednesday, September 15th , 1897 Ashley Watts dominated the Swansea Copper Lords with a brilliant 2-hit shutout in a Cardiff Arcadians 1-0 triumph at Arcadians Field. The Cardiff hurler fanned 5 and walked 1 in the game and was singled out for praise afterward by the opposing manager. "He really kept us in check today," Copper Lords skipper Vincent Kempton said in postgame comments. "Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away. We took some pathetic swings." In pitching stats this season Watts has rung up 18 wins and 16 losses in 38 games.
