Walker Wins Best ETXA Pitcher Friday, October 1st , 1897 The #1 pitcher this past month in the Association of Eastern Texas was George Walker of the Luling Lavender Stockings. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing September with a superb 6-3 record and a 2.28 ERA. The Lavender Stockings star made 9 starts and surrendered 95 hits in 94.2 innings. He struck out 29 and walked 27. This season Walker has a 21-11 record with a 3.29 ERA in 32 starts. |
