Abilene Wins Association of Western Texas Abilene Circuit Crown Wednesday, September 29th , 1897 The excitement in the room was obvious as the Abilene Preachers players and coaches alike celebrated their Association of Western Texas Abilene Circuit championship. "A lot of our guys have never been in this spot before," said starting pitcher Efraín Rivera. "Our team has never won a Championship of Texas, but that's something we want to change this year." With a record of 56-39, the club has wrapped up the division for the 2nd time. It will be a "sweet moment for our city and our fans" if the team can bring home a championship, said team owner Rich Ellis. |
