Mejía Dominates Luling Sunday, September 12th , 1897 Mercuriano Mejía kept the Luling Lavender Stockings hitters from doing any damage at Lavender Stockings Park today. Luling could only muster 3 hits and take 1 walk against the left-handed Mejía, who controlled them throughout the game as Tyler took the contest, 9-0. Mejía added 3 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Mejía told reporters after the shutout win.
