Ramos Voted August's #1 Newcomer Wednesday, September 1st , 1897 Francisco Ramos was in a zone all last month and zeroed in on the Association of Eastern Texas Rookie of the Month crown. In August the Galveston pitcher had a 6-3 record and breezed through opposing lineups, holding them to a .243 batting average. He started 9 games, threw 81 innings with 22 strikeouts and 42 walks. He also fashioned a fine 2.44 ERA. Thus far this season, Ramos has tossed 111.2 innings in 11 starts, fanned 35 batters, walked 59 and put up a 2.90 ERA with 7 wins and 4 losses. |
