Jinetes Win Campeonato de Circuito Saturday, August 11th , 1888 The fans in Guerrero are celebrating the Jinetes victory over the San Agustin Algodoneros in the Campeonato de Circuito. They defeated the San Agustin Algodoneros 10-3 in the finale played at Guerrero Fields to capture the series 4-2. Vicente Melendez was chosen the series' Most Valuable Player. The Jinetes shortstop batted .417, drove in 8 runs and scored 4 runs in the series. "The Algodoneros are a good club and I don't mean any disrespect to their pitching staff, but things just felt easy this series," Melendez said. "Everything at the plate seemed right." The Guerrero Jinetes will play against the Taos Artists in the next round. Taos won their series against the Prescott Lynx 4 games to 1.
