LFM Announces Outstanding Batter Award Wednesday, August 1st , 1888 Vicente Melendez earned July's Batter of the Month honors in the Liga Fronteriza Mexicana by reeling off a .383 average, going 31 for 81 with 1 home run, 11 RBIs and 18 runs scored. The soon-to-be free agent was hitting with great urgency in an effort to bolster his asking price in the Guerrero clubhouse and around the rest of the league. This year Melendez is batting .321 with 3 home runs and 47 RBIs. In 93 games he has scored 58 times. |
