Thessalon Sweeps into the National Championship of Canada Wednesday, August 8th , 1888 The Thessalon North Stars looked strong and dominant in a series sweep against the Pickering Bonebreakers. The Association Championship victory gives the club a great deal of momentum heading into the National Championship of Canada. Thessalon won the final game by a 5-4 count and the series 4-0. Al Sauve captured MVP honors on the strength of his 0.47 ERA over 19 innings pitched. He had a 2-0 record. "As long as we win, that's all that matters" he said of the honor. The Thessalon North Stars don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Lachute Supercalenders - Quebec City Dons series. Lachute leads the series 2 games to 0.
