Wegraeus Named OBA Rookie of the Month Wednesday, August 1st , 1888 Leon Wegraeus certainly made a name for himself with a standout July. Voters were impressed enough to name him the Ontario Baseball Association's Rookie of the Month. The 22-year-old Sault Ste. Marie hurler racked up 5 wins and 2 losses and posted an ERA of 1.82 in 59.1 innings of work. He restricted other teams to a .238 batting average, notched 32 strikeouts and walked 7. In 17 starts this year Wegraeus has fashioned a 13-6 record and a 2.16 ERA. |
