Lanzador Excelentísimo Announced, Winner is Ruiz Friday, December 3rd , 1897 The Liga Betances announced today that Julio Ruiz has been chosen the Lanzador Excelentísimo winner for 1897. The Las Marias starter had everything working for him this past season as he breezed to a 35-10 record. In his award-winning season Ruiz crafted a 2.38 ERA in 400.1 innings with 109 strikeouts and 69 walks. Opposing batters hit .257 against him in his 47 starts. Ricardo Rosario of the Arroyo Bucaneros finished second in voting, while Carlos Chávez of the Salinas Pescadores finished third. |
