Cidra Sweeps into the Serie Eliminatoria Thursday, October 21st , 1897 The Cidra Palomas proved to be too much to handle for the Camuy Murcielagos in the Serie Preliminar, and a sweep was the end result. Cidra punched its ticket to the Serie Eliminatoria on the strength of a 6-4 win in the deciding game, which wrapped up the series 3-0. Cidra second baseman Orlando Méndez, named series MVP, was instrumental in the sweep, as he mashed Camuy pitching to the tune of a .385 average, with a .429 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Cidra Palomas don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Moca Rebeldes - Las Marias Citricos series.
