Samaritanos Advance to Serie Eliminatoria Thursday, October 21st , 1897 The San Lorenzo Samaritanos have beaten the Barranquitas Proceres in the Serie Preliminar, despite a strong performance from Proceres left fielder Ruy Barrera. Barrera was given MVP honors for his performance even though his team came out on the losing end of the series. "It's a good news, bad news thing I guess," he said. "Unfortunately the bad news is really bad -- our season is over." San Lorenzo won the final game by a score of 5-4 at Estadio de San Lorenzo and took the series 3-1. The San Lorenzo Samaritanos don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Aibonito Polluelos - Barceloneta Marineros series.
