Gutiérrez Whitewashes Vejigantes Thursday, October 7th , 1897 Felipe Gutiérrez was impressive at Estadio de los Vejigantes today in the Barranquitas Proceres' 6-0 shutout victory over the Loiza Vejigantes. The Barranquitas pitcher mystified the Vejigantes in a strong performance, giving up 5 hits and totaling 5 walks and 2 strikeouts. "Felipe had them chasing a lot of pitches and talking to themselves," Barranquitas manager Baltasar Suazo. "It was something special to watch." This year Gutiérrez has a 23-14 mark in 44 starts with a 4.48 ERA. He has given up 397 hits in 323.1 innings, struck out 71 and issued 163 walks.
