No Playoff Berth Coming for Culebra Monday, October 4th , 1897 It's now time for the Culebra Tortugas to start turning their attention to what can be done to help improve the club for next season. The team was formally eliminated from playoff contention today for the 1897 season. "We knew a title was a long shot at this point, but mentally there's a big difference between a tiny chance and no chance at all," said Tortugas starting pitcher Jesús López. Before this season, the Tortugas last missed the playoffs in 1895. In the 27 years they have been a Liga Nacional Puertorriquena franchise, they have made the playoffs 6 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Tortugas have only made the playoffs once. |
