Trujillo and Villagrán Fight, Suspended 4 Games Wednesday, September 29th , 1897 Baseball confrontations occasionally get intense and sometimes that tension becomes too much and boils over into more than just words. This time it happened to Florida's Quilón Trujillo and Culebra's Cirilo Villagrán. The two were the main participants in a fight that cleared the benches. Today both were suspended by the league for 4 games for their aggressive actions. "I hope things settle down now," the manager of the Tortugas said later. "There's no reason for us to be locked in a cycle of revenge. We all need to focus on baseball instead." Posting a .218 batting average to date, Trujillo has 1 home run and 27 RBIs. Presently Villagrán has a 11-23 mark in 42 starts with a 5.34 ERA. He has given up 411 hits in 305 innings, struck out 30 and issued 118 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .327 batting average against him. |
