Trejo Whitewashes Las Marias, 3-0 Wednesday, September 29th , 1897 The Las Marias Citricos had no answer today for Comerio Guabaleros pitcher Felipe Trejo. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 3-0. Las Marias managed only 6 hits off Trejo, who had 2 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular Trejo got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd. "Guabaleros fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible." To date this season Trejo sports a 16-24 mark with a 3.59 ERA in 43 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .285 batting average and has 104 strikeouts in 360.2 innings.
