Sánchez Sizzles -- Smokes Conquistadores for 5 Hits Monday, September 20th , 1897 Hiram Sánchez exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Estadio de las Cotorras. The Rio Grande first baseman had a field day in the 11-10 triumph over the Guaynabo Conquistadores, finishing 5-for-5. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Sánchez must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Hiram Sánchez singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.
