Caciques End Valle's Streak Tuesday, September 14th , 1897 The Orocovis Caciques pitching staff did its job today, holding hot-hitting MartÃn Valle hitless in 5 at-bats during the club's 10-6 victory over the Rio Grande Cotorras at Estadio de los Caciques. The disappointing performance ended a 22-game hitting streak for the shortstop. "I'm a little down right now," Valle said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too." For the season Valle is hitting .371, batted in 78 runs with 7 home runs and 99 runs scored. |
