Metropolitanos End Pacheco's Streak Sunday, September 12th , 1897 The San Juan Metropolitanos brought Curro Pacheco's hitting spree to a screeching halt today in its 15-10 victory over the Aguas Buenas Mulos at Parque de Aguas Buenas. The San Juan mound staff snapped the 22-year-old right fielder's hitting streak at 23 games, as Pacheco failed to get a hit in 2 at-bats. "The only reason I cared about the streak was because it meant I was contributing every day," Pacheco said later. "I didn't contribute today, and look what happened." For the season Pacheco is batting .351 with 156 hits and 1 home run. He has scored 45 times and batted in 67. |
