AL Player of Week: Louisville's Chamberlain Monday, August 27th , 1888 Ice Box Chamberlain became the latest recipient of the AL Player of the Week Award for his outstanding performance this past week. To win the best player honor the 20-year-old Louisville hurler tossed a total of 18 innings, collecting 2 wins, 12 strikeouts and a 1.00 earned run average. He suffered no losses. Chamberlain has made 25 starts so far this year and put up a 17-6 won-lost record with a 2.67 ERA. In 215.1 innings he has allowed 187 hits, walked 48 and struck out 109. |
