Browning Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games Tuesday, August 17th , 1897 The Boston Reds fell to the Louisville Colonels in Congress Street Grounds today, even as 36-year-old second baseman Pete Browning upped his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games. Browning finished with 2 hits in 5 at-bats, but could not stop the Reds from dropping the 13-9 decision. "Yeah, I kept my streak going, but it would have been better to come away with a win," said Browning. Pete Browning singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. Browning is batting .380 this season in 121 games with 6 home runs, 88 RBIs and 91 runs scored. He has 173 hits in 455 at-bats. |
