Los Lunas right-hander Mike McDaniel was sensational in shutting out the Santa Fe Hollyhocks, 1-0. McDaniel went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 2. His record improves to 11-19. The last-place Hollyhocks have lost 14 straight games.

When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Ed Connelly had a chance to be the hero. Santa Fe pitcher Matt Francis had other ideas. But with two outs, Connelly hit a run-scoring single. The Werewolves had themselves a dramatic win.

"I expect to pitch a complete game shutout every time," said McDaniel.
