Smith Shuts Out Hollyhocks
The Taos Artists did little to support starter Kevin Smith against the Santa Fe Hollyhocks, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Hollyhocks, striking out 2 and surrendering 9 hits. The performance from Smith allowed Taos to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said 'Kevin, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Smith told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

This year Smith has fanned 90 in 231 innings and collected a 16-8 record with a 2.03 ERA.
