Fans watched the Piedras Negras Carboneros and the Ciudad Acuna Galanes fight to the finish.
The Piedras Negras Carboneros dumped the Ciudad Acuna Galanes, 4-3, in large part due to shortstop Ernesto Sánchez. On the day, Sánchez went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Carboneros. Curro Vélez got credit for the save for Piedras Negras. It was his 4th of the year.
Piedras Negras took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Telesforo García stroked a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Carboneros.
In postgame remarks, Carboneros manager Kyle Hyrkas lauded Sánchez. "He's a good, young player. The future's bright for Ernesto."
Piedras Negras is now 52-31.
