Artists Grounds was the site for Border League action featuring the Los Lunas Werewolves and Taos Artists.

The Taos Artists got a stellar performance from pitcher Kevin Smith, who handcuffed the Los Lunas offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Artists Grounds. Smith, now 10-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs.

The Werewolves had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Artists going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 37-year old third baseman Eric Van der Heyden came to the plate. Van der Heyden hit a 2-run double on a first pitch sinker from Los Lunas hurler Mike McDaniel. It was Van der Heyden's 10th double of the year.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Van der Heyden said after the game.

With the win, the Artists have a record of 18-17.
