Olympians Suffer 5-3 Setback
|
Tucson rode a decent outing from starter Ryan Wade to victory over the Tempe Olympians. The final score was 5-3. Wade, now 7-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. The save was credited to Joe Lowe, his 1st.
Had Mamerto Barron not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Barron hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Highwaymen.
Wade said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
Tucson now has a record of 23-8 with the win.
