England Stars in 7-3 Werewolves Win
The Los Lunas Werewolves launched their 1897 campaign with a victory over the Santa Fe Hollyhocks at Los Lunas Grounds. Los Lunas second baseman Steve England was instrumental in the 7-3 win. He went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Brandon Brown, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits in 9 innings.

The Werewolves got a big at-bat from left fielder Jeremy Killen. For the game, Killen went 1-3 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Los Lunas a 3-2 lead.
