Extra-Inning Win by Palomas Over Guardacostas
|
Parque de los Guardacostas was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
The Cidra Palomas eked out a 1-0 win versus the Catano Guardacostas at Parque de los Guardacostas. Nobody did more than pitcher Luis Vásquez. He was terrific. In 9.1 innings, Vásquez surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. He allowed no runs.
Cidra used the clutch hitting of Lucio Martínez to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Palomas ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We didn't score," said losing manager Esteban Hernández. "That was the problem."
The loss drops the Guardacostas to 9-15.
