The Mayaguez Capitanes eked out a 2-1 win versus the Toa Baja Llaneros at Estadio de Toa Baja. Nobody did more than pitcher Pedro Sánchez. He was terrific. Mayaguez currently is in second place in the Liga Hostos Oeste at 81-51.

The outcome might have been different for Mayaguez, had it not been for Luis Flores, the 24-year old third baseman . Flores stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Mayaguez up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Flores.
