Rafagas Scratch and Claw to 12-11 Win
|
The Bayamo Rafagas defeated the Santa Clara Leopardos, 12-11. Doing his part was center fielder Ricardo Puga, who went 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Bernal Sánchez earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. The Rafagas, at 50-46, sit in second place in the Torneo del Oriente División de Santiago.
Puga had a game-changing triple in the top of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from Marcos Arellano, he banged a 2-run triple to left-center, giving the Rafagas a 12-11 lead. It was the 10th triple of the year for Puga.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Puga said.
