Tight Tilt Goes to Tinajones, 3-2
|
The Cienfuegos Elefantes and Camaguey Tinajones provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Camaguey Tinajones had to overcome a fine effort from Cienfuegos pitcher Ramón Melgar to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Parque de Cienfuegos. Melgar went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. The Tinajones are now 46-48, while the Elefantes fall to 49-45.
Camaguey relied on the hitting of Orlando Hernández to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tinajones on top, 3-2. For the game, Hernández had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I really like what we did out there today," Hernández said after the game.
