Santa Clara pitcher Jorge Vélez was good. Really good. He twirled a 4-hit shutout to beat the Santiago Soneros, 1-0. The loss makes Santiago 37-52.

The Leopardos relied on catcher Dan McAlister for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring double to seal the deal.

"We didn't score," said losing manager Glauco Fernández. "That was the problem."
