In a career performance, Cienfuegos Elefantes second baseman Modesto López sparkled with the bat today at Parque de Cienfuegos.

Powering his way to a 5-for-5 line at the plate, López led the Elefantes to a 13-10 win over the Bayamo Rafagas. López was in high spirits in the clubhouse after the game, joking with reporters that the big game had left him "winded."

"Oh sure, 5 hits sounds great but think about how much more baserunning you have to do," he said with a smile. "Next time, I'm just going to take 5 walks."

Modesto López singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 8th.

In his stats this season, López has posted a batting average of .260 with 19 hits in 73 at-bats, 1 home run and 7 RBIs. He has also scored 12 runs, walked 9 times and compiled a .353 OBP.
