Alacranes Pick Up 9-3 Win
|
The Almendares Alacranes topped the Artemisa Rojos, 9-3, with shortstop Roberto García playing a big role. García was 3-5 with a triple and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Alacranes in the win. Almendares, at 38-41, holds down second place in the Torneo del Occidente División de Pinar del Río.
García contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing triple, for Almendares in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, García took a knuckle curve from Ángel González and stroked the triple to right-center. His 7th triple of the season allowed the Alacranes to leap in front, 4-2.
"We'll enjoy this win," said García. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
