The Matanzas Henequeneros topped the Pinar del Rio Guajiros, 5-4, in Torneo del Occidente action at Campo de los Henequeneros. The standout performance belonged to Matanzas pitcher and Austin, Texas, native Ken Martin. Matanzas, at 47-31, occupies first place in the Torneo del Occidente División de La Habana.
The Henequeneros procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Jacinto Adorno. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double.
"The most important thing is that we won," Martin said.
