The Matanzas Henequeneros picked up a win at Campo de los Henequeneros, knocking off the Pinar del Rio Guajiros, 4-3. Starting pitcher Brent Mattern played a key role in the triumph. Mattern went the distance for Matanzas. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. The Henequeneros improve their record to 46-31 with the win over Pinar del Rio.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Matanzas shortstop Jacinto Adorno, facing Víctor Vives, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Henequeneros the 4-3 win.

"I had pretty good command out there," said Mattern.
