Matanzas Henequeneros starter Brent Mattern was in fine form against the Pinar del Rio Guajiros at Estadio de Pinar del Río, leading his team to a win, 7-3. The win makes Matanzas 38-24.

Matanzas used the bat of Jacinto Adorno to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Henequeneros ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

In comments to the Matanzas Daily, Mattern admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
